Our "Historic Artifacts" collection is inspired by dig sites, findings and artifacts that are exhibited in location and museums all around the world. This bust of Marsyas was made by Balthasar Permoser (1651-1732) depicting Marsyas being skinned alive after challenging and losing a musical competition to God Apollo. The facial expressions, the positioning of head and shoulders are considered to be emotive portrayal of Marsyas's agony.
